A hovercraft is a vehicle that floats on a cushion of air. Instead of wheels or a hull, it has fans that blow air down to raise itself up. It can then blow air sideways to move itself around. This makes it possible to travel on both land and water. They are most often used to carry people and cars from beaches and travel across calm bodies of water, such as lakes.
